The Gambia is a relatively cheap place to travel to with the highest costs being those related to vaccinations and flights to get there. For a short summary, you can scroll down the page.
We happened to get some really cheap flights when buying them about half a year in advance. We were flying from Warsaw to Lisbon and then from Lisbon to Banjul and we have taken the same route back. The cost of a return ticket for one was 330 Euro.
The cost of vaccinations was pretty high but keep in mind that we have done all the recommended vaccinations, so you can easily lower the cost by doing only the obligatory ones. Also most of them you only need to take once in a lifetime so this is more of a one time cost for multiple trips. In total, the vaccinations were 230 Euro per person.
For the most part, we were staying either in private lodges or in hostels and only once did we stay in a hotel in the most touristic area (Cape Point, Bakau). On average we spent on hostels 10 Euro per day for two. The cheapest place we stayed at was 5 Euro per day for two and the most expensive 24.
As for the food, we would usually make breakfast for ourselves and then go out for lunch/dinner. The average cost per day for two was 17 Euro.
The transportation cost for all 11 days was 49 Euros for two but keep in kind that for the most part we were using gelle-gelle and shared taxi.
We have only paid for 3 attractions while there which added up to 19 Euros for two people. The crocodile park was 300 GMD, monkey park was 400 GMD and boat trip in Kafuta also 400 GMD, all of those being prices for two.
The table below shows the general cost division. The cost given is for 2 people and with the assumption that the cost of flights and vaccination is the same regardless of the length of the stay.
