A lot is said about the standard of living when speaking of any given country but being in Switzerland made me think about what quality of life and living in quality means to me.

Let’s face it, irrespective of how you’d like to measure it and of being one of the most expensive countries in the world, the Swiss have a very high standard of living and while money may not buy you love, it surely helps with most other things!
Yet, the price of things is not what I impressed me the most.
What did impress me was the outstanding beauty, the sensation of peacefulness even within the bigger cities, the harmony among the diversity and all that clean air!
Swiss nature
Coming in by train from Italy, we wanted to vary our experience as much as we could so we spent some time at Chur in the mountains, Interlaken by the lakes and Bern as an example of city living.

Irrespective of where we were, my impression is that the Swiss have understood that all the money they have gathered can and should be used to improve their life and in all of the places we were at it showed even in the smaller details.
Building and statue details are properly restored and maintained, the streets are clean and people genuinely don’t seem stressed as they sit and enjoy both the sun and their meals in the abundant city parks over-viewing all their mountains.

Though to some the measure of life is money, I truly believe that money is only as good as what you do with it. In Switzerland they seem to understand that providing people with the conditions to live in quality are the prerequisites to ensure prosperity.
Beautiful Bern
Yeah, I think I could learn to love this place…
