What a fantastic bonus this was to our trip!

If you do not immediately know what the Matterhorn is then think of chocolate! The Matterhorn is the triangle shaped mountain that inspired Toblerone chocolates and it is amazing!

The Mighty Matterhorn

While it takes some pretty serious rock climbing skills to get to the top of it, regular travelers can appreciate its beauty by taking the 33 minute train from Zermatt to the top of Gornergrat at 3089m.

And what a trip it is!

We went up the mountain as the sun was starting to set and it was pure magic.

With over 20 peaks of over 4,000m visible and completely covered in snow in the winter season, it is straight out of a postcard!

On the Gornergrat line

Up there, at 3,100m, it was quiet, remote and outworldly.

It is a place where you can contemplate on the world and on how it offers so many places to travel to, to sense and to explore.

A and B

Though we did not have much time to enjoy it, this, for me, was the greatest adventure of this entire trip.

We had not planned it properly, we had to run and we were stressed. But ultimately we were delighted!

So cool!
