Possibly the funniest thing of our trip was the amount of Poles in Iceland. An invasion!

As soon as we arrived, at the front desk of the car rental was a nice Polish lady. As curious as that was, it was just the prelude of what was to come.

One evening we entered the bar trying to get something to eat. The bar was quite crowded, I would say around 15 people were inside. All of them Polish. Everybody. Speaking. Polish.

The guy who brought us the extra keys to the car (read about that on The Þingvellir adventure) was Polish, the ladies that worked at the hotel on the second night were Polish and even the security guy of the soup place was, you guessed it, Polish as well.

In fact, at a certain point, we counted that 21 out of the 30 people we randomly interacted with were coming from Poland!

A was made responsible for making all the calls during the trip - at the end of the day, she was just using her native language when calling hostels. Every time.

I mean, we later discovered that Poles account for about 6% of the Icelandic population but being there it felt the other way around.

Where are the Icelanders?
